Nvidia Adds AI to new Gaming Card to Boost Graphics Performance

NVIDIA

Nvidia has revealed that it will include a mid-range chip in its lineup for gamers with artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance graphics, underscoring the company’s focus on gaming despite the revenue decline in the industry.

Nvidia’s RTX 4070 chip will have a price tag of $599 and fall in line with the company’s graphics processing unit (GPU) lineup, which can be purchased for as much as $1,600 .

Rather than taking extra time to determine the value of each individual pixel on a screen, the latest Nvidia gaming chips use artificial intelligence to forecast the value of around seven out of eight pixels, which includes the creation of entire frames using AI.

Survey data from the game distribution platform Steam in March revealed that the RTX 3060, is the fourth most popular gaming chip on the market.

Nvidia’s investment in data center chips for training ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence systems contributed to the company’s revenue growth in recent years, but gaming chips accounted for approximately one-third of its $26.9 billion revenue in fiscal 2023, despite a 27 percent decline in gaming revenue caused by a lag in the overall PC market.

Nvidia’s chips make it possible for PC video games to transfer images onto high-resolution screens more quickly, resulting in a more lifelike appearance. The 4070 chips, which use Nvidia’s latest AI technology, are the most affordable options available.
