Google Chrome to Block Suspicious Downloads

Google-Chrome

According to a report, a new development is in the works that will protect users from unsafe HTTP downloads. In order to encourage safe and secure browsing, Google Chrome is planning to block all HTTP downloads, since almost all websites use HTTPS encryption.

There are a couple of security features in the browser, including mixed elements and an “Always use secure connections” option. Older sites that are only HTTP-encrypted in the address bar are warned by the browser.

Users will be warned if they are not using secure HTTPS connection and browser will prevent downloads from an unsafe website. The browser will block the download if the user is directed to an unsafe website for download, which eventually leads to another secure connection. Downloads from the site will be blocked if the website is only available through the HTTP.

According to the report, the feature will issue a loud warning rather than blocking users from unsafe downloads. As per the report, the update might arrive with Chrome 111, which is expected to be rolled out in March 2023. The launch date of the stable version is not yet known. New shortcuts for easier browsing have been added to the address bar in the Chrome version 108. There are three @tabs, @bookmarks, and @history shortcuts in the web browser. When you press the spacebar after writing any one of three shortcut, you will be taken to the relevant page.
