A new trailer has been released for the upcoming metaverse game Project Drone Galaxy by the Drone Racing League. The DRL in partnership with Algorand blockchain will launch a game in the metaverse that will allow players to build their own drones and compete in high-stakes racing arenas, all in a fully functional virtual universe.
The DRL is a real-life competition where professional pilots race with identically tailored drones for rewards and accolades. DRL hasn’t announced a release date for the project. The game is created by the Playground Labs, a metaverse infrastructure developer.

Annie Marie Gianutsos, the Chief Marketing Officer of the DRL, said in a statement that the Drone Racing League is made for Web3, “Players will build their own drones, compete for digital collectibles, and fly-to-win as animal-avatars battling barriers, boosts, and fiercely competitive pilots”. The DRL is creating a new era of sports that brings high-speed competition in real life, in virtual simulation, and in the metaverse.
The game will be available on a number of platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Epic Games. There will be live-streamed games on a bunch of social platforms including YouTube and Facebook.
The metaverse allows people to be in a virtual working environment as an avatar and can meet, work, purchase digital collectibles, engage with other, and indulge in hyperreal virtual experiences in the metaverse. The metaverse has a market opportunity of $800 billion, research reports suggest an estimate for the next two years.
