ChatGPT Becomes The Fastest Growing Program in History | Growing Concerns for Plagiarism and Security

ChatGPT is a fast-growing artificial intelligence program that has drawn praise for its ability to write articles quickly to a broad range of subjects thus attracted the attention of US lawmakers’ with questions about its impact on national security and education. The AI program is the fastest-growing consumer application in history, and a growing target for regulation, was estimated to have reached 100 million monthly active users just two months after launch.

It was created by a private company, OpenAI, and made available to the public for free. There is fear is that generative artificial intelligence could be used to spread misinformation, and the students could use it to cheat the exams.

According to media reports, it has been banned in schools in New York and Seattle because of concerns about plagiarism. One congressional aide said that the concern they were hearing from the education section who were focused on cheating.

OpenAI said in a statement that “We don’t want ChatGPT to be used for misleading purposes in schools or anywhere else, so we’re already developing mitigations to help anyone identify text generated by that system”. Mira Murati, Openai’s chief technology officer, said in an interview with Time that the company welcomed input from regulators and governments.
