Lack of Data has Apparently Hampered the OpenAI's GPT-5 Development

The development of OpenAI’s GPT-5 is presumably behind schedule. According to the report, the AI company has encountered a number of challenges in achieving the intended level of competence for the GPT-4 successor, including a lack of training data and the need for significant funding. According to reports, the artificial intelligence (AI) model has been in development for over 18 months, which is a lot longer than the corporation had initially anticipated. Furthermore, it’s still uncertain when the large language model (LLM) will make its public appearance.

The GPT-5 project, also called Orion, is currently behind schedule, and it’s unclear when it will work, if at all, according to the Wall Street Journal. According to the report, which cited anonymous sources with knowledge of the situation, the AI company is now facing two major problems: the cost of building the model and the insufficient amount of training data to make it sufficiently intelligent.

GPT-5 is currently regarded as being just slightly superior to OpenAI’s current AI models. However, some connected to the project informed the journal that it is not yet developed enough to be profitable for consumers and businesses, and that it cannot make a profit due to the high expense of maintaining it.

To get the AI model to the required degree of intelligence, OpenAI will probably need a few more training sessions. However, the training of the model may be further delayed if the organization is experiencing a lack of data. Microsoft, OpenAI’s largest supporter, is apparently not happy about this delay. According to reports, the IT giant thought GPT-5 would be available by the middle of 2024, but that hasn’t happened.
