Amazon.com’s cloud computing arm unveiled a range of technologies to assist other companies in creating chatbots and image-generation services powered by artificial intelligence.
Amazon Web Services (AWS), the world’s largest cloud computing provider, has entered the AI competition with its own proprietary AI technologies, but it is taking a different approach.
AWS will provide a service called Bedrock that enables businesses to personalize the foundation models of AI technologies, such as responding to queries with text or generating images from prompts, using their own data. Similar to OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, customers can customize the models to create a personalized chatbot.
Amazon Titan foundation models will be accessible through the Bedrock service, along with a selection of models from other companies. The first third-party options will be provided by AI21 Labs, Anthropic, and Stability AI startups, in addition to Amazon’s own models.
AWS customers can use the Bedrock service to test their technologies without having to deal with the underlying data center servers. Amazon’s custom AI chips and Nvidia Corp’s chips, which are the biggest supplier of chips for AI work, will be used by the underlying servers.
