WhatsApp to Roll Out a New Chat Transfer Feature Soon that Allows Chat Transfer without Cloud Backup on Android

Whatapp

The instant messaging app, WhatsApp is said to be working on a new option that will let users move chats from an older phone to a newer one without using the cloud. If you want to transfer chat from one phone to another, you can do it via the Move to iOS app on the iPhone or on transfer chat by backing up it on Google Drive for Android.

WhatsApp beta, there is a new option in the settings section. This will make the process of moving chats simpler, as users will simply need to click on that and use a QR code on their older phone after setting up the app on their new phone.

According to the report, the feature is currently under development and there are no details on when it will be rolled out. Since users won’t have to rely on Google Drive to switch to a new phone, it could get a lot faster. But if your older device is lost or has stopped working, you can only use a cloud backup to access your chat history on a new phone.

The new feature is being tested for a future update of the app. It allows the company to report suspicious messages. Status updates will remain end-to-end secure, just like messages, voice calls, media, location sharing, and calls. Reported messages are decrypted and sent to WhatsApp, however the end-to-end encrypted contents of regular chats can’t be accessed by anyone, not even Meta.
